My Calathea is about 4 months old, going on 5.
It had been underwatered a few times in the past, but it seemed to bounce back, however no new growth noted in the past 2 months maybe. I don't know whether the 'fuzz" on the roots is normal or root rot/mold
But the leaf curling and crinkling is worrying me. The soil doesn't have a musty smell (had a faint smell of wet soil when watering only once) and the humidity is solidly around 55-60%.
I've used tap water in the beginning, switching to drinking, bottled water lately, I was worried about tap from what I've read about them, but she doesn't seem very happy.
She lives in the living room, in a south-facing apartment in a temperate climate but I'm worried it might not be enough.
I really don't know what I'm doing wrong and I care about her 🙁

This used to happen with my calantheas when I under watered them. These plants are veeery sensitive to watering, so any sudden change can cause this. I would cut off all the dried up leafs, make sure you stick to a watering routine (I would water mine around every 5-6 days in winter and 3-5 days in the summer). I also give some houseplant food every couple of waters to keep them happy.
I would definitely avoid tap water, if you can afford watering with bottled then that should be good. I use a Brita filter for my tap water and my plants seem to like it! I live in Ireland and we have very hard water so tap is a big no no.
