GARDEN CITY, Kan. (KWCH) – An early-morning crash in Garden City on Monday led to power being disrupted for many residents.

Garden City police said that just after 5 a.m., first responders went to a crash at the intersection of Mary Street and A Street. Officers found a vehicle that had hit a utility pole and rolled over.

They also found significant damage along the south side of the 100 block of west Mary Street. The utility pole had been moved about 15 feet with live wires across the area. A speed limit street sign had also been moved.

City Electric and Public Works crews began repairs, and many people living in the area had power outages due to the damages.

The 19-year-old driver originally ran from the crash, but he was found and taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

The investigation is ongoing.
