The York Water Company says customers on Grantley Road, Fairview Terrace, Summit Terrace and Bee Tree Road may have contaminants in their water.

YORK, Pa. — The York Water Company has issued a boil water advisory for certain residents.

Customers along Grantley Road, Fairview Terrace, Summit Terrace and Bee Tree Road are being asked to boil their tap water before use.

According to a press release from The York Water Company, a loss of pressure due to a water main break may have allowed contaminants into the pipes.

The company is advising effected residents to bring their water to a boil for 3-5 minutes in order to kill any contaminants that may be in the water. The company also suggests using bottled water until the advisory is lifted.

Side effects from being exposed to any contaminants include diarrhea, cramps, nausea and headaches. If you are experiencing any of these symptoms, The York Water Company is urging you to call your doctor.

The company has not released a timetable for when the advisory would be lifted. A green door hanger will be placed on doors once the water is safe to drink.

Customers with any questions are asked to contact The York Water Company’s Customer Service Department at 717-845-3601 and 717-848-2984 for after-hours calls.
