The Ouachita Hosta and Shade Plant Society will meet at the Garland County Library at 10 a.m. on Saturday, with guest speaker Randy Forst, who serves as state consumer horticulture/Master Gardener coordinator.

Forst has a bachelor’s degree in landscape design and urban horticulture and a master’s degree in general agriculture, both from the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville. Before moving to Arkansas Extension, he worked for a landscape architecture firm in Collierville, Tennessee, specializing in urban and residential landscapes, a news release said.

With the extension, he has served as the agriculture extension agent for St. Francis County and as agriculture extension agent staff chair for Carroll and Pulaski counties. He lives on a small farm and raises Dorper hair sheep, cattle, free range laying chickens, vegetables, bees and blackberries.

Sign-in and fellowship for the meeting will be at 9:30 a.m. Guests are welcome to attend.
