Reckon these Red Robins were planted about 10 years ago to provide much needed privacy from neighbouring priorities.
Moved in in November and unsure what to do about them. Don't want to get rid of them because of the privacy they provide but they look to be struggling (even by winter standards). A couple have already definitely died.
Do they just need a good prune, mulch, and re-staking or are they just too big for planters.

They seem to be very densely planted for a relatively small container, id imagine they were rootballs when they went in and nearly filled the potential space for the roots to grow instantly, plus if they havent been fed/mulched then they probably dont have much in the way of food to keep growing.
Ideally should be in the ground, they will not have a lot of nutrients or room in that planter
As the other comments, also they’ve been allowed to grow straggly rather than early pruning to promote bushier growth.
And now I know why they’re called red robins. Never seen it before until this photo.
I spent far too long squinting to find the robins
