BUFFALO, N.Y. — In honor of Black History Month, the Buffalo and Erie County Botanical Gardens is inviting the public to check out their new “Horticultural Heroes” exhibit.
The exhibit will feature 30 portraits that pay homage to the contributions of leaders in the world of gardening, botany, agriculture and conservation. A spokesperson for the Botanical Gardens says each portrait is created by a different artist and honors each person for their commitment to advancing plant knowledge, supporting communities, fighting injustice and preservation of ecosystems. Portraits include George Washington Carver, Michelle Obama, Karen Washington, Ron Finley and Leah Penniman.
The Horticultural Heroes exhibit is a loan from the New England Botanic Garden at Tower Hill, and will be on display until April 26. The exhibit is open daily from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. and is included with regular admission.
