This is my first Paladarium and it’s about 3 months old. I bought some neocardina shrimp and acclimated them to the water for an hour; however, the next day they all showed up dead. All the water parameters look fine; nitrates , nitrites, and ammonia are around 0ppm. GH ~ 140-220ppm and KH ~ 50 – 100ppm. Planning on adding vampire crabs in the future but I’m paranoid their fate might end up being the same as the shrimp. Perhaps low oxygen or toxic plants leaching into the water. Thanks for any help.

Has the tank been cycling for 3 months? What is your filter?

I haven’t added any additional substrate or fertilizer to the system since I made it. Removed and replanted some different plant species

If they are dead that fast it might be copper. Do you have copper pipes? Have you had success with shrimp before in similar water?

Shrimp are very sensitive to changes in water temperature. Are you maintaining the same temp in the paludarium as the aquarium?

What did you use building the scape and background? An aquarium safe silicone? GE silicone 1, something else?

Might be something toxic, especially if it’s happening that fast.
