- Moss species is unknown. I bought it at a reptile expo, sold as "Small live moss."
- Wall substrate is made of clay, Fluval Stratum, and dried sphagnum moss
- Lights are on for 12 hours/day
- I spray the terrarium with distilled water every 1-2 days
- Humidity is usually 85%-90%
- The temperature stays between 65-70 degrees F
Does anyone have any recommendations or advise?

I am also having a hell of a time keeping moss alive.
Moss is very fussy about growing indoors – usually moss sold is wild harvested moss that doesn’t do well away from where it was collected.
Remove any dead or moldy moss from your tank and start fresh.
Moss re-grows quite well from fragments.
Collect a bunch of different mosses from your local area (about 1 tablespoon of each kind you can find) rinse the mosses well to remove any dirt or bugs, mix the mosses together and cut the moss up into fine pieces like minced herbs, sprinkle the minced moss evenly on all the surfaces you want to grow moss and mist with distilled water infrequently until new moss grows (about 6 weeks).
This way the moss best-suited for your tank will choose to grow.
Note: if there is any patch of moss in your tank that is doing well – you can take little bits from there to spread it to different areas in your tank
