We love it but the tree has grown and the platform is now cutting into the sides of the tree. Lots of creaking and groaning when the tree sways. Thoughts?
just cut out some of the wood of the structure right around the tree. be careful not to damage the tree bark during this process

Just trim the floorboards for more clearance

consider adding another support column or two so you can trim your tree house without it collapsing

Just do some cutting around it then you will be good 😉Â
Thats a nice tree house!

Maybe redo some lumber / blocking on the structure to circumvent the current pinch point. Once new bracing is in, the area of contact could be cut out. You bought yourself some time with this if it’s feasible. Eventually it will need taken down though, you are correct in noticing.

Seen this and the movie “step brothers” came to mind.

The tree house already has vertical support posts going into the ground to support it. Most of the weight is not attached to the tree, which is a good thing. There are modern ways to attach tree houses to trees without harming the tree. You can cut space around the tree, and if necessary use a new method to secure it. The tree will be happy and you can keep the cool house!

I’ll second the other comments, you need to widen the holes around the trees. This will require some carpentry.
