The Garden City 9U Dunkers kicked off the New Year with a decisive 18-10 victory over St. Bernards in their first game of the year.
Patrick Gomoka (23) opened the game by winning the tip-off, followed by scoring two back-to-back 2-point shots to set the tone of the game. Garden City maintained a lead throughout the first half with additional points scored by Luke Donnelly (1), Emmett Walker (14), and Andrew Li (24).
The Dunkers maintained their lead throughout the second half with points added to the scoreboard by Luke Donnelly (1), Patrick Gomoka (23), Andrew Li (24) and Antonino Pierdipino (33).
Leo Herrera (3) and Luke Petito (44) controlled the game with smart passing, with Patrick Gomoka (23) leading the team in scoring. Strong defense and rebounding from Luke Donnelly (1), Leo Herrera (3), Aidan O’Hara (10) Elijah Pavon (11), Emmett Walker (14), Antonino Pierdipino (33) and Will Bedell (41) kept the momentum going to clinch the win.
