i heard you could propagate ficus elastica using leaves. the rumors were true. however, i have this goofy looking rooted leaf and was wondering where the new stem is supposed to emerge from. where’s the meristem in a situation like this?

Plant it and find out. Let us know how it works out.
No node no prop, leaves could grow roots but can’t grow new leaves and be a new plant. Keep it water (or try to plan it) to see how long will it lasts.
It won’t. No nodes. The leaf could last a long time but that’s about it.
What is the evolutionary purpose of a leaf growing only roots and not new leaves? I wonder🤔
Just stick it in
It’s called a zombie leaf! One of mother nature’s quirky tricks.
Petiole cuttings (just a single leaf that grows roots) is very much a thing…I’m not sure how viable this one will be but things like African violets and even begonias and lilies can entirely be grown from a single leaf…so there are things that will regenerate from a single leaf…I’m not saying it’s a definite thing but I have seen this exact same thing happen with citrus leaves in the past…I believe that it doesn’t fully need a node…if it grew roots it has may also be possible to grow nodes…just as those other plants I mentioned can…
I hope you keep the community updated as time goes on…I know I for one would be extremely interested in seeing how this pans out…
If there’s a node, there’s a way
rooting a leaf and propagating a leaf are 2 different things. you can root a ficus elastica leaf. you cannot propagate a leaf.
‘plants purify your home air’, ‘some plants like to be rootbound’. both those statements are demonstrably false, yet you should see how many times parroting apes repeat them to other parroting apes. or argue them. 😉
without at least a stem node, you’re s.o.l.
there’s gobs of fake propagation vids on the utubes-people pretending that rubbing a mango on a papaya leaf will grow a papaya tree, or similar sillliness.
you have a zombie leaf (if it indeed was just a leaf to start). won’t do anything but stay ‘alive’ for quite awhile.
regardless of what you all think, im gonna give the little fella the benefit of the doubt. i will love him like a son
It might grow, I was able to get one to grow from something that looked similar. There was a tiny bit of node that was able to grow.
