Battle of New Orleans Tour marks anniversary

The Friends of the Cabildo will host a look into the battle that helped define the country’s identity on Thursday, Jan. 8.

This year will mark the 211th anniversary of the United States forces under Gen. Andrew Jackson defeating the British under Gen. Edward Pakenham at what is now Chalmette in the Battle of New Orleans.

The tour covers the areas not at the battlefield, “from lost locations of forts that protected the city to Jackson’s headquarters to events in the French Quarter related to the unfolding battle.”

Tickets start at $20 for the walking tour at 10 a.m. Visit friendsofthecabildo.org.
