Driver killed in Garden State Parkway crash on New Year’s Day

A 31-year-old woman died on New Year’s Day after she was thrown from her vehicle in an early morning crash on the Garden State Parkway in Middlesex County.

Tiara Muhammad, of Barnegat, was driving an SUV north when the crash occurred about 3:36 a.m. at mile post 127.9 in Woodbridge, according to New Jersey State Police.

The front of Muhammad’s vehicle struck a divider between the local and express lanes, police said.

“As a result of the crash, Muhammad was ejected from the vehicle and sustained fatal injuries,” State Police said in a statement.

No other injuries were reported. The crash remained under investigation Thursday afternoon.
