   the rare soft gray cactus. You can try to touch it and often these are very soft, but touch it the wrong way and it can be unexpectedly sharp

    I think it’s a catcus, possibly a tabby cultivar. You have to stroke the fur-like growth and whisper “who’s a good kitty?” to be sure.
