So I have a 4x2x4 that I'm working on the background, currently got branches attached and am wanting to do little foam islands, think Pandora, on the back drop to save time and effort while maintaining a clean look. Would I be able to just foam around the branches or would I have to do a full foam back drop then layer build the islands??

One of my mentors in the dart frog hobby was kinda known for his “island” style backgrounds and although it wasn’t really something I really liked, it was some he liked a lot, and that is the entire point of a hobby
There’s absolutely no reason you can’t! I think it could look quite nice, though it would remove some climbing space for critters.
