Looking for the community’s thoughts about the SP that has grown to six feet tall on my balcony and has leaned into the corner of the nook. Time to chop! No experience with this, but have scrolled obsessively… err, researched for years – many thanks to this community. Plan to chop the top three feet and replant the tip, then cut two one-foot mids, and leave about a foot at the base. Will angle the last cut a bit (30 degrees?) to prevent rot as the top of the base dries. Plan to leave the base in place. Got a new sharp bread knife and will douse in isopropyl before and between cuts. Got a saw on hand if needed, but hoping to avoid using it. Will dust the cuts with sulfur. Will dry the mids for harvest and set the large tip upright in straight pearlite. Does this procedure seem to hit the mark? Concerned that some part of the plan may be potentially problematic because, rookie. BTW, for those of you who may find my balcony situation somewhat familiar, moving on from my previous reddit username. Fired up for this being my first post with the new handle.

Sounds like you got a good plan
I think you are dialed in. Only thing I’d do differently is use rooting compound on the bases of the cuts. Label the cuts near the bases with a sharpie.
Will you be using any of the mid section? You probably should test it for science
My advice for cutting is to use an electric knife. The cuts come out clean with no hesitations on older thicker cactus.
