I love using my LED growlights to grow plants all year long! Here in New Hampshire, zone 5B, I like to start plants very early during the winter months. That’s necessary to do in cold areas like northern New England. During my grow room tour, I show you a Gardener Supply grow system as well as an affordable DIY shelving unit grow system. I include ideas, tips and tricks.

Really helpful video!
Good morning Sis! Great information in this video. I have some aquarium lights that I am not using any more and am planning on using them on some seedlings this year, if they are strong enough for plants in an aquarium then they should work.
Wow this video was just what I needed. I found some brand new shop lights in Goodwill,so now I got to find me some 4 feet wide shelves . GREAT Inspiration!
Your cat ❤❤❤
I, too, see gardening as therapy. I know people think I have lost it building a nice greenhouse. Well, that's OK. Gardening is just about everything to me. At 71, I am so thankful I have great health; I believe it's one of the things that have kept me mentally, physically, and spiritually fit ❤ love your teachings ❤
Love your ginger cat. 😸 That's quite the seed starting system you have! Mine pales in comparison lol, two little grow lights and a slatted wood shelf. Great information, as always, and appreciate the budget- friendly tips. I totally agree: Gardening is therapy for the soul.
Hi beautiful Winnie 🫶👏🐾! So glad to meet you…😊. Glad you like gardening too . My cat loves our garden and has to be with me anytime I'm out there …
I use a similar setup in my semi heated garage with heat mats as needed. I have 2 racks and plant like I have 10. I start in trays, pick and transplant method that you use too. If the seed sprouts, I transplant it. I don’t have the heart to let it go, even if I don’t need the plant. I offer the extras to family and friends.
I am so excited to be able to follow along with the videos to start my seeds. I have most of the supplies to build the diy shelves. ❤❤❤
Always good to see Winnie in your videos. I like your lighting system and may need to borrow some of your ideas for building my own system. Well explained and a very nice system. Thank you.
Vita! I look forward to your videos! I’m gearing up for my first winter sowing, and have purchased my lights for indoor sowing.
Keep the instructions coming, my friend!!
❤ my childhood nickname is Winnie!!! My sister still calls me that.
You have a nice growing setup, my hubby also built ours, except my lights aren't long enough and it does matter. Ty for sharing ❤
❤I love Winnie😻
At last. Someone that appreciates the utility of basic Walmart LED shop lights. 😁
I've been using a setup just like the wire rack system you built for the last 5 years, and it has served me well.
Great video! Thank you for that
Awesome information. Thank you Dr Vita.
After buying shelving I have one I bought at a restraint supply on line it's 72 in wide and 24 deep I use half for the sprouted the other half for tall plants. The grow lights I have 4 per section it's so hard to find 3 ft lights most are 4 feet. Now I wish I would have purchased 2 ft foot racks. When do you plant your coleus seeds? Half of my cuttings died. I think I should have let the roots get longer. Maybe I wanted too long to bring them in. Yes my plants and my Cockatoo keep me sane. My last two small birds died a year apart. Im using that room for more plants. Im just using racks in front of the windows. Working good for coleus and marygold cuttings. Can't believe next Thursday it's Thanksgiving. Everyone have a nice thanksgiving.
I am 100% behind cat content in gardening videos ❤😂
Just yesterday I was measuring my hallway, thinking about setting up some grow shelves there! 😄I'm actually looking forward to winter and trying these new things – thanks for all the info!
I love Winnie!!! I watched your video before and use shelves that I can break down in the spring when I'm done with them. It's perfect. Thank you!
I am with you, we cant put a price tag on gardening 🙌🙌💃💃
Beautiful cat!!! I would love to see her more.
healthy living, community, education..trying to be an example to my son/n/laws as to the many rewards Ive gotten just over the past season. all the men i know, they dont know what to think because women love flowers and i just went all in. the wives and daughters with small children asking for photo opportunities. and the Lavenders dressed up in the right pots and in the right soil>>make great christmas gifts.
As I was watching you and your kitty, mine was sleeping comfortably on my lap! They just love being around is so we can give them attention.
Winnie you’re a sweetheart look forward to seeing more of you in videos. I’ve been gardening for many years I love it a great way for me to relax, enjoy and try new things. Seed starting is new for me trying to reduce the cost of buying annuals in the spring.
yea for Winnie! She looks just like my Phinneas!
Great setups! I was starting to stress about the cost of grow lights. And how I am comparison shopping all the stores in my area for shop lights. Thank you for the video.
I just learned last year about impatiens seeds. I had no idea where they came from on the plant and googled and found one of your videos, so I harvested them all summer. I found 10-12 tiny seedlings growing in cracks around mine and my neighbors driveway so I gently removed them and placed them into pots and they grew so beautifully. Pink, White, and Salmon color and I only had pink in my garden so those other colors were from previous years I believe. I moved those pots 10 total into my basement under grow lights before it got too cold and they’re doing great. I wanted to continue to harvest seeds from them all winter. As a test on Nov 11 I planted 4 seeds that I harvested in a small pot using seed starter mix and after a week and a half all 4 sprouted and here we are almost a month later and they’re growing nicely. I have hundreds of seeds and I’ll start them in February so they’re ready in time. I’ll be adding these to my backyard nursery sale in May. I also have about 400 perennial plants and bushes outside in nursery pots this winter that I propagated all summer and we had an early snow so they are covered in snow which should be a good blanket for them until Spring. Thank you for this video, I’ve learned a lot from it and will be watching more of them thru the winter. Thank you!
Do your shop light fixtures get warm? I had some LED shop lights that got really warm and we’re drying out the seedlings above.
