Rudrapur: Skeletal remains of a 75-year-old man, missing for over three weeks, were found on Friday night in a dilapidated building on Kashipur Road in Udham Singh Nagar district headquarters, Rudrapur, prompting police to probe all possible angles, including murder.Jai Singh, a resident of Preet Vihar who worked as a gardener, lived with his daughter, Vimla, and son-in-law, Ramesh Kumar, and had been missing since Nov 27.Vimla said Jai Singh left home early that morning without informing anyone and did not return. A missing complaint was lodged the same day, but repeated searches by police and relatives yielded no leads.The case resurfaced on Friday night when a sanitation worker noticed a foul smell emanating from an abandoned structure while collecting firewood to keep warm. On looking inside, he found skeletal remains and alerted others. Family members later identified the remains based on clothing and personal belongings.Police cordoned off the area, conducted a preliminary inspection, and sent the remains for post-mortem examination. City police circle officer Prashant Kumar said investigators were examining all possibilities. “The post-mortem report will help establish the cause of death, after which further action will be taken,” he said.
