out going for my walk at the beginning of the week and this is the way the weather started out. By the end of the week, this is the way it was. So, no matter how the weather is, don’t let it stop you from getting your exercise. We all need exercise no matter what our age. Hey guys, welcome back. I am sitting out here in my backyard sucking up some of this sun. I feel like this is a rare treat for November here in the Midwest, but I’ll take it. The weather has just been up and down, freezing one night, warm the next uh day or two. It’s It’s just really strange. The poor plants don’t know what to do. But I am just flowing with it. Whatever comes, you deal with it. And um I can officially say that the garden is complete. Have leaves over everything. Mr. G did cover up that fig tree. And so everything’s done. So I am focusing my attention in the house. And this week I did get some um food put up. You know, I hear a lot of people talking about survival and all of this here. I’m not putting up food for survival. I just don’t like going to the store. Also, when you buy in bulk, it’s cheaper. And it is so nice, especially in the winter, get snowstorm, you don’t have to go out and deal with the people trying to get last minute things. So, this week I did get some um cranberries put away and I freeze dried a few other little things, but um I am pleased I I got grain. I’ll show you when I go in how I uh put my grain up. Uh so, that’s all um that’s been going on this week. I am trying to I’m going to be changing my focus a little bit about health and diet. for the winter because that’s going to be my focus. So, that’s what I’ll do my videos on and I hope you get something out of it. Also, I’ll be planting my garden for uh the spring. I’ve already been thinking about that. Uh some things I planted and I didn’t particularly care for it, but um other things did quite well, but with the weather, you never know what’s going to do good and do well. But I heard a lady say uh I think it was good advice. Only grow what you and your family’s going to eat because a lot of the things just like we planted tomatoes, I can’t eat tomatoes. Only Mr. G can eat the tomatoes. And we gave tomatoes away and it was still just too many tomatoes. So next year definitely we’ll be cutting down on that. I’m surprised this comfort tolerated the quo quite well. Everything is covered with the leaves. Just want to show you I’m ready for the winter. Won’t be out here much. Something that I am trying to do is to support the local farmers. I bought these cranberries from a farm in Wisconsin and I am going to be doing more research to find out what more farms are around me that I can purchase for them. Seems like they’re trying to put all the small farms out of business and this is something that I feel like everyone can do to help. Well, here are the cranberries. I canned all of these and I got eight of them. Very pleased. And they taste amazing. I freeze-dried a few things. I had this okra and I wanted to get it out the freezer, so I freeze-dried okra and I really like them like that. These are the pablano peppers. I will grind them later. These are lentils. I cooked uh lentils, two servings. And so I freeze-dried these, so all I have to do if I’m tired is um just take some water and heat them up. And these are those habanero peppers. I will never ever ever do that again. I uh thought I would just take them and cut them in half. So I said, “Oh, I don’t need any gloves.” Well, my hands were burning me for two days. And I was coughing. I was sneezing. They are some strong peppers, so I don’t think I’ll be doing it. I’ll go back to the vinegar and uh storing them in the vinegar. But that’s what I got accomplished. Now, this is how I store the grain that I am using. I will put them in uh half gallon jars. And this is like my oat goats. And this is some barley. I do keep these in the refrigerator. Now, if I wasn’t going to keep them in the refrigerator, I will put uh bay leaves in them. They say that help with keeping out little bugs and stuff. And I will vacuum seal them. And this is what I vacuum seal them with. I love this little thing. You just slip it on, push a button, and it takes all of the air out. And this here piece here is for smaller uh tops. You just screw that on there and you can do either size. So this is what I do. I keep the others in a 5gallon buckets in miler bags in storage. This is Lady P from my backyard. Until next time, peace and love. I’m out.
