This cute little Tylecodon sp. (maybe T. opelii) came to me as a volunteer in a large planter of mixed Lithops secies 5 years ago. It is summer dormant, flowers every fall and then grows its pair of thick, succulent leaves for the winter through spring.

I have no idea how old it is, but it isn't much bigger than it was when it first saw it in 2020. The planter it had seeded into was over 25 years old.

Every ear i take the seeds and scatter them back into the same pot and there are two seedlings in the pot. You can see a 3 y.o. one the left in pic 2. The 1 y.o. one is pinhead sized.

Does any idea how old the "big" might be.?

Tylecodon opelii wasn’t discovered until 2000 so that may not be accurate if you think the seed was mixed in the original batch from over 25 years ago. Although it may have arrived there later on. I have no idea as to the species or how old it is but very cool plant!

I think T. opelii would have to fight Anacampseros comptonii for the title of Smallest Caudex
