While digging out some of my tubers today in between our soaking storms here in the PNW (zone 8b), I accidentally chopped off the tips from a few tubers. Honestly, the ground is so saturated that it took all of my strength to muscle the clumps out of the ground. 😢 I'm just thankful that things worked out better than I thought they would.

I've attached two examples of tubers where the tips were inadvertently chopped off (without anesthesia either, so sorry!). I searched through old posts and didn't see anything that pertains to this situation, so I thought I would consult the experts. Are these tubers now compost material or are they salvageable? If the latter, are there any special steps to take (e.g., let the tips dry then treat with cinnamon or sulfur, etc.)? As an FYI, I divide now (not spring) before putting them to slumber for the winter.

Many thanks and happy holidays!
