i own mutiple different european/frostresistent droseras but this one is the only one with those weird brown blobs. is it some kind of protection for the rhizome? i dont think its some pest since its currently winter in austria and temperatures reach somtimes below the freezing point.

Looks healthy to me. As long as you don’t see mold, the plants are fine. Once you spot mold, do imideatly divide and seperate the plants and repot.

That is your dormant Drosera! They create that cotton-like cover to protect the hibernating bud from cold and evaporation. During spring you’ll see them opening up, first with some short misshapen leaves and then the real carnivorous ones.

The plant huddles up into a thing called a hibernacula and depending on the plant it has an outer coating of papery scales or hairs. That is for protection. It’s kinda like a small shelter for the plant.

Those are the hibernaculum which protects the growth point from the cold and prevents the plant from dying during dormancy.
