I hope this is the best sub for this question.

I recently received this jar of jelly/preserve (not sure which would be the right technical term), it was made a couple of weeks ago. I cracked it open this morning, and noticed this film(?) on top that reminded me of pellicle from homebrewing. The seal seemed intact, as in it took some effort to get the lid off, but I was able to do so with my hands and didn't need a jar opener. It definitely didn't pop off like it was fermenting, though.

Any info y'all might be able to give would be much appreciated. Thank you in advance!

As a canner, I would be very suspicious of this. Canning requires strict guidelines to be shelf stable, and many people don’t do that. To me this looks like mold.
