I have mixed feelings about hoyas.. It all started when I first got my variegated wayetii months ago and she's been nothing but a pain 😭 She would drop leaves randomly and some vines would just rot off? I even considered just getting rid of her lol. Today, she finally decided to grow some leaves so I'll spare her life. 😒
What are some hoya varieties that aren't boring looking, grows like a weed and blooms don't smell like piss? Help me get over my hoya hate lmao 🫶 I have a compacta, krimson queen and the var wayetii.

My obovatas are a strong grower for me. Also, the pubicalyx but I would get, like, a super splash for some interest.
You’re probably over watering. They like to dry out in between waterings. You could also have a bacterial infection in the soil, treat with peroxide
Pubicalyx was great for me, also australis – for visual interest go for Lisa or Blondie. Also my carnosa crimson queen is growing constantly?
I have the variegated wayetii and she grew like four little leaves this year.
I would definitely try to only water when it’s very dry, this variety can handle under watering better than over watering. You can tell when it really needs water when the older leaves (closer to the soil line/pot) are more floppy and easily bend. If they’re firm and can easily break when folded, it’s fully hydrated and won’t need water for a while!
But if you want something that will bloom for you sooner, any lacunosa or krohniana is a good starting point! Also if you have a lot of heat and sun you can try obovata or kerrii, my obovata actually flowered for the first time last summer! Another good grower that’s easy and flowers readily is Hoya ‘Sunrise’. Hope this helps 👍🏻
Skill issue.
