Recently my calathea has started having these patches on half the leaves. I really don’t want this plant to die but not sure what I can do? Overwatering? Root rot? Any help would be appreciated! Don’t want it to spread further
I would do a really thorough check for pests. I know calatheas are finicky but it looks like something more than that.

Has the humidity and/or temperature changed in your home over the last couple of months?
What is the condition of the rhizomes and roots?
Are you watering with tap or distilled water?

Do you have a hydrometer? Temperature has to do with it (drafts from my experience) but I find that humidity fixes everything. If she used to be shiny, notice how her surface seems a little dry? I find that shiny plants go dull when humidity is low. I crank on the humidifier and that green just lights up.
