So, as we get into the summer and people start doing some gardening and bushes trimming and vine cutting and all these things people do and you’ve got these different kind of cutters that you need to trim stuff with and and these things are dull every year and I see people buy new pairs all the time because they’re dull. So, I’m going to show you how to fix this with a simple flat file that you can buy at your hardware store for six or eight bucks. Now, this one’s long. long. I have it cut right here because I use this as a skinnier part to get in some different areas. But it’s simple to do. And all you do is just take your cutters just like this. And if you’ll look on the cutting blade part, you’re going to see that it’s almost got like a little bevel right here where it’s kind of lean back. And you just take this file, this flat part of this file. And you just open this up and you lean this at the same bevel as the tip. And you just push it forward like this. Only go one way. You don’t go back and forth. You just go forward like this until you can get that blade sharp. And it doesn’t have to be like a razor blade. It just can’t be flat and dull. You can run your finger across there. As long as it’s got a little bit of an edge, it’s going to be just fine. You can do it with these kind of shears as well. And these are the same way. They always have this little bevel at the top. And you can lay your file right along the edge of that bevel, just like that. And you just go one way. And you can sharpen this whole thing down both sides. And it’s going to almost be like having a brand new pair. All right. in. Next

  1. I have battery mower. Do you use the same procedure to take the blade off for sharpening or can you sharpen it on the mower?

  5. You can do it with a sharpening stone too (&better) and you don't file off more metal than needed. Makes it a "smoother" sharpening job. The stone is usually cheaper than a file or rasp!
You can use the file for blades that have been damaged more seriously!
