A luxury London cattery chain’s “cat hotel” could be relocated to a Garmouth back garden – making it the first of its kind in Scotland.

A resident on the village’s South Road is asking Moray Council to grant planning permission for an eight-suite cattery, which was previously operating in Chichester in West Sussex, to be dismantled and rebuilt on their property.

The Chicester facility was closed due to the owner’s retirement and had previously been operational for a decade, “with no issues or complaints”.

It was purpose-built to meet the specifications of the English five-star cat hotel chain, Longcroft, who offer “high-quality, boutique-style boarding for cats”.

A report is being presented to Moray Council’s local review body on Thursday, December 11.

This is the second time the applicant has requested planning permission after the proposed facility was refused by planners in September.

Reasons for the refusal included traffic, noise and visual impact concerns.

The report states that the boutique hotel would work as a cattery business for the residents with no outside staff required.

The outbuilding, used for the cats, would measure just over 12 meters long and around four meters wide.

The walk-in style pens have been designed to allow a premium experience for cats and kittens, with each one boasting a thermostat-controlled sleeping area, bespoke antimicrobial furniture and an exercise area.

If approved, the luxury accommodation would only allow drop-offs and pick-ups between 9am and 5pm from Monday to Saturday.
