Hi guys, this is my hoya. I’m a first time hoya owner, and a habitual plant killer. I usually stay away from real plants (the ones in the back are fake), but this hoya was a gift from a loved one, and I’ve been trying to do right by it since.

I’ve been keeping it by my window, and it seems to like it better without the shades drawn. I’ve been following every hoya advice website I can find to figure out how to water it right and give it the love it needs.

I’ve moved it from its usual spot to the corner on my desk because I’ve put it on a new trellis and it’s a bit awkward-looking with the new trellis in its old spot.

The hoya itself has been having a bit of a rough time. Its leaves went all wrinkled and bumpy, which I read was a sign of dehydration, so I’ve been trying to water it more. It’s getting better (?) but some of the leaves near the bottom are starting to split and dry out. That being said, I’m getting some new growth! I want this plant to pull through as much as possible, so please help me!

My questions are:

  1. Have I attached it to the trellis right? I tried to avoid leaves and nodes.
  2. Should I cut off any dying leaves? Or should I let them be?
  3. Is my new spot a potential danger zone for my hoya?
  4. Is there anything else I should do?

I’m considering getting one of those soil meters to check pH and moisture levels, is that a good idea or just a waste of money?

Thank you in advance for any help you’re able to provide, wish me luck!

The new spot looks too dark, put it next to the window and leave it, water when the top of the soil is dry. The water meter could be a good idea as a beginner to help you gauge when to water.
