I bought seeds on ebay for chinese thuja. Only 1 of 6 seeds grew and this is what i have after 9 months. Its in my grow tent, in a cup of coco coir, i water it with maxigro. The first months it grew very slow.

Anyone else grow this from seed? How was it?

Only one seed sprouting out of six sounds about right for this type. I remember reading that germination can be pretty hit or miss depending on how fresh the seeds are. Coco coir and Maxigro seem to be working for you though. I like the shape it’s forming so far.

My grown trees actually seed themselves, I just replant them elsewhere. They, don’t grow nearly as fast, though. This looks like 3yo tree at my rates.

How hard would it be to make that into a bonsai since it already looks like it. ?

I grew 20 out of 30 seeds. They grew pretty good. Had to up pot them, but once I was at a gallon sized pot it was spring so I gave them to my cousin who now has a hedge row. Its far easier to propagate them from a bought tree and plant them.
