saw this in a plant shop i was visiting for the first time today. owner said it was a gift from a friend and wasn’t sure what it was, only that it is “from japan” (not sure if he mean this specific plant, or that the type is native to japan). an employee at a different plant store had some really good ideas about hybrids, and they mentioned specifically bipennifolium, warscewiczii, and paloraense

    It looks like a Thaumatophyllum cross to me! From cursory searches, it may be a cross between T. spruceanum and T. bipinnatifidum.

    Yup, looks like a thaumatophyllum to me. They are sometimes referred as “tree philodendrons” because their stem turns to tree-like.
