I bought this asparagus fern a month ago and this new stem has been growing non-stop for the past week or so.
I haven’t watered it yet. It was watered when I got it and the soil is still moist, so I’m waiting for the first inches to dry out before watering it again. It gets some indirect light or shady light besides my pothos and ivy which are doing well.
The third picture shows another recent growth before the one on the last pics which had no problem, so I assumed that I’m doing something right.
Is it not getting enough light and that’s why it’s growing higher and higher or…? I could place it on the floor but there it would get more direct light.

Yeah looks like it’s not getting enough light
It looks happy to me. Under the right conditions and the right time of year they grow shoots like this. It shows that the plant has the right conditions to reproduce. Perpetually small asparagus ferns are stunted and unhappy.
Once developed the fronds produce small red-brown spheres as seed bodies. They eventually go black.
That’s normal for this type of asparagus.
Flower spike?
It’s climbing plant in nature. It’s looking for support, something to cling on to. And maybe light as well.
I need everyone to know that I’m VERY thankful for your answers but I freaked out and pruned the shoot before I got to see these replies💀🙏🏼
