A calm early morning on the homestead turns into a beautiful day of cleaning, planting, and refreshing our small-space garden.** Today we’re tidying up the beds, improving airflow, topping up potatoes and sweet potatoes, replanting strawberries, and adding new seedlings like tomatoes, brinjils (eggplants), peppers, kale, spinach, and more.

It’s a early morning at the homestead and it’s 
calm. It’s a cool morning. So before the day heats up, we are spending a few quiet hours cleaning 
up the space and we are going to be planting new life into our little garden. So my homestead 
always feels good with a nice tidy up. So, we just started with a quick clean up. I cleaned 
the bottom leaves of all my plants. This just promotes nice airflow so that the plants 
don’t get any diseases and just made sure that there was no diseases on any of the plants. 
If there was any mildew growing on the leaves, then I would trim these off, too. So, it’s 
nice just to give the garden a nice reset. And this is what I’m doing here. It’s 
amazing how just cleaning some clutter can instantly energize the garden. A little work 
now makes planting so much easier later. [Music] And here’s the thing, even if you don’t have acres 
of land, you can still grow a surprisingly amount of food. Small spaces are powerful. And when you 
focus on healthy soil, smart planting, and using things like vertical structures, you can harvest 
fresh vegetables all year round. Every corner becomes an opportunity for me. So I use things 
like sunny walls, raised beds, a few containers, vertical growing, some arches. Remember, small 
spaces, warm foster are easier to manage and encourages you to plant intentionally. Okay, so 
another thing I need to do is top up potatoes. You don’t need a big farm to eat well. You just 
need a little space and a lot of heart. Okay. So, my mark actually died during forming 
this section. So, whatever I said did not come out. But just wanted to show you the 
letters. How nice did these lettucees come out. And then we got some kale, some spinach, and 
I just need to finish this bed. We got two, no, we got three bringils. And the 
cauliflowers I’m actually going to take out and remove. I’m putting 
them somewhere else. And I cl totally new bed. I’m just going to top these guys 
up with beautiful fresh soil. I’ve topped up all my sweet potatoes and potatoes um with soil. And 
you can see this is really starting to die down um with all this rain. I’m not even sure if we 
are going to have any potatoes. This potato has started to flower. And then we just got our 
other sweet potatoes. I’ve filled up with soil. I filled all the peppers with soil. I’ve now 
cleansed all the strawberries. And I actually saw a strawberry. You can see it’s over there. It’s 
been half eaten. But there is one strawberry here. And this is a nice variety. Um, I actually was 
gifted this plant about three years ago. I think it’s the pink flower one. And I’ve only got one 
of these. So, I am trying to see if I can’t get some runners. I have had somebody ask me if if 
I get any if I can give them a run or two and it’s finally started to run. So, I see new plants 
coming out. But this is a nice variety. And then all the other ones are the white flower variety. 
So, I’ve topped it up with some compost because strawberries love compost. And I should see a 
nice harvest, I am also going to top all my other hanging strawberries with compost as well. And 
then just to let you guys know, the lofah is in the ground. So that’s nice. And the pineapples 
after repotting and taking it and putting it in this area is absolutely doing better than 
before. In the middle, we have new green growth, which is awesome. thought I was going to lose the 
pineapples. I’ve had them for like 3 years, so I had to make a plan. Um, what else did we do? I’ve 
got some Roma um tomatoes, Roma tomatoes, which is going to be put in this bed. So, that’s the next 
thing I’m going to work on. Got some harvesting. You can see some beautiful bush beans coming out. 
And then guys, look at the the cucumbers. I’ve got two varieties of cucumbers here, and I decided 
to grow more than two plants. I think I’ve got about 12 plants this season. Let’s see. 1 2 3 4 
5 6 7 8 9 10. And then if I come on this side, we’ve got 11 12. We got 13. So, I made sure 
that the cucumbers were going to make it this season. and they just surprised me. Some more 
lettuce on this side. And I think I’m going to buy about three more celeries and stick them 
in the ground. Did very well. I think I’m going to take the old celeries out when the new ones 
start. But um yeah, this bed is also empty. So I’m thinking of some pak choy maybe. And then if 
you guys are wanting to know where my herbs are, it’s in these three beds. So, these three beds 
are totally separate from this area where I actually concentrate more cuz herbs you don’t 
really need to concentrate until you need to harvest and dry them out. Got some Roma tomatoes 
we’re going to plant and purely parsley. So, I’m going to put these pearly pasties in the corners 
and then the balance of it um in the herb box. Tomatoes you can bury it right to the top here. 
So, that is what I’m going to be doing. [Music] [Music] So, next we planted our branch. And these little 
beauties love warmth. So that is why I placed them on this side of the homestead. So give them 
a sunny spot and also well drained soil. We spaced them a few cm apart cuz bringils need loads of 
airflow and a little slow release fertilizer and we use organic fertilizer and that will just help 
them settle in. So they are going to just take off now and once they’ve established they will reward 
us. So cannot wait for these little purple fruits to come. And I’ve gone and moved the letters to 
this side so that they all together. And I’ve opened up this space where the letters were cuz I 
think I would like to plant some stuff in there. And you know, we’ll just see what we can plant 
there. And I will just throw a whole bunch of bok choy and spinach in this bed. Also, our 
strawberries needed some attention. Just need to water them. So, we replanted them. And we also 
topped up the soil with some awesome compost. And this should give it a boost that it 
needs. It’s thrown out a whole bunch of runners. I wanted to show you what we did 
with the cabbage. This is the cabbage. And I’ve put a structure here so that I can get 
some really fine material. I was going to use um some frost cloth, but it wasn’t 
going too well. So, I think I’m just going to then get some really fine cloth 
and then just cover this when it’s time to [Music] We are done with everything. Took a little 
bit longer than I thought, but we’ve accomplished. We have done the strawberries. We’ve potted all 
the new seedlings we bought. We have trimmed all the leaves from the strawberries and the marrows, 
the watermelon just to make sure that there’s no disease that go at the bottom, the airflow 
is nice and that my plants are healthy. Um, and we’ve planted quite a lot of new 
seedlings like our tomatoes, we did bringils, uh, we did another pepper, so we got new crops in 
the ground. And now I can hear the thunder rolling in. I’m hoping that we get just a little bit of 
rain so that it waters what I planted today. But that was just a little bit of a different task 
this weekend. And every weekend it’s a little bit different. But normally do the same ones 
where we need to just see what needs trimming, harvesting, and anything that needs to be
