The head has already begun to separate, probably should’ve been picked 3-5 days earlier. This can also happen with non-hybridized varieties, of broccoli…do you know which variety this is ? Than may also help explain what’s going on. Either way, I’d pick it as soon as you can and enjoy it either steamed or my family’s favorite way which is roasting it in olive oil, salt n pepper and grated parmigiano.

Yup completely normal. I grew three of these purple broccolis this summer and all three looked exactly like that.

Starting to bolt. Cut low and you may get more smaller heads.

For purple sprouting broccoli, it is. Harvest the main head and many side shoots will develop, for some it’s the more desirable harvest

I don’t know the answer but wow that’s such a pretty broccoli. My purple broccoli is still a tiny seedling so will probably have to wait until Feb or March to get something out of it

Thanks for the kind replies everyone! I’m going to cut the center florets on the plants and let the offshoots grow out more based on what I’m hearing and reading.
