okay I just got this golden pothos from a friend who couldn’t take it with her on her move. I’ve never owned a plant this big, only tiny succulents, and have literally no idea how to care for them. I’ve always wanted to be a plant mom but it seems so overwhelming lol I’ve heard pothos are pretty low maintenance so just looking for any tips that would be helpful for a first time plant momma! Also I read that pots with drainage hole are the best but this pot doesn’t have any so should I attempt to repot it??

it’s so pretty and healthy! though they can tolerate low light, she might start losing a lot of leaves if she’s used to more light. generally, the closer to bright natural light, the better. i would ask your friend what the lighting situation was before.

i personally just water based off vibes 😭 im old school and just stink my finger in the soil, i prefer to water when i feel no moisture at all. overwatering can lead to root rot so be careful with that! if you feel unsure you could also get a moisture meter, theyre pretty inexpensive and will give u a better frame of reference.

keep an eye out for pests! there are various kinds but just do a check on your plants leaves and soil every now and then. you’ll notice when things look out of the ordinary, or lil bugs flying or crawling around. you can look up different types of pests and their signs on reddit or the internet.

as for repotting, you definitely can. IF it’s root bound, dont go any bigger than 2” (diameter) in pot size increase.

have fun!! part of being a plant parent is trial and error so dont be too hard on urself if a plant ever dies on u 😅 i’ve definitely had my fair share of losses.
