Ive had this tank just chilling for about 2 months now, it just models the temperate forrest of new england. Humid and a little cool. I added some mosses, then bought 2 ferns and 2 species of isopod. Somehow, I also got a slug, and a few millipede and centipede species. I had a springtail culture and they seem to thrive in here too. Last species I have is a Strumigenys ant colony which loves munching on the springtails. Everything has been pretty happy, breeding, and in harmony for about 2 months.

My question is just- which plant or animal species would/could I add.

I'd also like consensus on the species I was thinking of adding: 1) eastern red backed salamanders (since theyre under EVERY log i lift where i live) 2) pseudoscorpions (could buy from someone), a third isopod species (too much?), 3) American giant millipede(s) (theyre also abundant where i live, my tank might be too humid tho), and/or 4) another ant colony (maybe ponera pennsylvanica since they also eat springtails).

Wouldn’t put any vertebrates (and you shouldn’t be taking animals from the wild). millipedes can be eaten by the isopods and ants while molting. I would think eventually the most successful isopod species will outcompete all the others. I’ve never tried housing pseudo scorpions. Your tank seems pretty full already so just some things to think about

It’s full. Looks like a great ecosystem.
