It was on a small leafless bush in someone's front yard. Are they natural or poisonous?

American beautyberry. In some areas especially in the southeast it is native. It is edible and some people make jam out of it. Straight off of the bush it is very seedy and has a strong medicinal flavor.

    Beauty berry. They’re so pretty.

I’m not sure about the rest of the plant, but the berries aren’t poisionous to humans.

I’ve most often seen them as ornamental plantings.

Probably pokeweed (toxic) or beautyberry (mostly safe to admire, not eat).

What kind of dichotomy is “natural or poisonous”?
