Sec 16 Horror: Woman found with throat slit in Rose Garden washroom Chandigarh: In a shocking incident, the body of a 30-year-old woman, her throat slit, was found in the women’s washroom of Rose Garden in Sector 16, on Saturday afternoon. Sector 17 police recovered the knife, apparently used to slit her throat, at the spot, along with the victim’s mobile phone and a number of anti-depressant tablets.Police have kept the body at GMSH-16 for autopsy and are scrutinising CCTV cameras installed near the crime scene.Sector 17 police have registered a case against unknown accused and are investigating the case from all possible angles, including suicide. Police contacted the victim’s family in UP, and they reached the city later in the evening.The deceased was identified as Diksha, a resident of Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh. She was married but lived separately from her husband. She had been residing in a rented accommodation in Phase 11, Mohali, for the last one year. Her husband lived in Sarangpur, Chandigarh. SSP Kanwardeep Kaur said a murder case has been registered against unknown accused at Sector 17 police station. The anti-depressant tablets were found in the victim’s handbag. The incident came to light when a man walking in the garden heard screams from the bathroom and immediately alerted traffic personnel deployed at the gate of the garden. Traffic police personnel arrived at the spot and asked a woman to go inside the bathroom and check. The woman did so and found Diksha in critical condition. Traffic cops brought her out of the washroom and informed the police control room at 112.Diksha was rushed to GMSH-16, where doctors declared her dead on arrival. Upon receiving information, DSP, central division Dalbir Singh Bhinder, along with SHO, Sector 17 police station and others, reached the spot. Police recovered the knife used on the victim from the crime scene. The victim’s identity was confirmed from the Bihar Staff Selection Commission slip found on her body. After the incident, police sealed the area and started examining CCTV camera footage, besides questioning people and staff members present in the park.
