The fence line was collapsing, the weeds took over, and the homeowner had lost all hope of ever getting it back. Everyone had given up on it…
Until today.
She made a post on Facebook and some people sent it to me and I decided to help her out
This was one of the mostrewarding cleanups I’ve ever done. What started as a simple yard rescue turned into something way bigger. A reminder that hard work and kindness can truly change someone’s day, or even their life.
From tearing down an overgrown fence line this transformation shows what can happen when you don’t give up even when everyone else already has.

What goes through my mind? A lot goes through my mind. My kids can’t go back there and play. It scares me to have it being that high back there. All the all the animals and Yeah. [Music] What happened that made it hard to keep up with the yard? Well, for one, I had a major heart attack. What’s up, beautiful people? I’m Al and I mow the yards that need it the most. And today we’re in Fort Pierce. This yard is completely out of control. The homeowner, she had a heart attack and she’s unable to take care of it herself. So, I’m here to step in and help get it back to the beautiful place that she deserves. It’s overgrown. It’s wild. And when I’m done, it’s going to be brand new. All right. How did you find this yard? So, how I found this yard, a bunch of my friends, they sent me a post that was on Facebook, and it was a lady saying she needed some help from Al Blades. I kind of thought that she was kidding, but I just went ahead and I messaged her and she was serious. When I pulled up to this yard, I was thinking the backyard is absolutely crazy. Like, I saw grass just covering the fence and there was a lot of hidden obstacles in this yard. I don’t really find too many yards this way. This one kind of just fell into my lap, which it must be meant to be. I’ve lived here close to a little over 20 years, actually. It just started to get tall like this uh here recently. Yes. Yeah. When you first moved into this house, what made you love this house? The neighborhood? Mhm. You know, the people in the neighborhood I liked. Um hot holidays are really cool around here. Yeah. Yeah. That’s super cool. When you look at the yard right now, what goes through your mind? What goes through my mind? A lot goes through my mind. My kids can’t go back there and play. Snakes in the backyard. It scares me to have it being that high back there. all the all the animals and yeah, what happened that made it hard to keep up with the yard? Well, for one, I had a major heart attack and so it’s hard to get out here and like mow I can mow like a couple strips at a time, then I got to come come sit down. Yeah. It’s too too hot. Yeah. Yeah. I can’t get real hot like that. Mhm. Do you have a working mower right now or? No, my mower died. Mhm. What was the story with the front yard? Oh, my neighbor had it mowed. Yeah. He got tired of looking at it, I guess. Yeah. Yeah. Nice. It was nice of him to mow it. Yes. Yeah. You know, but I was waiting on you. Yeah. Yeah. That’s funny. I’m going to have to say that in the in the video cuz literally she made a post on Facebook. I said, “My grass is so high. I’m going to have to call Al Blades. Come cut it.” Yeah, that that was the post. And then I didn’t see it like originally, but so many people sent it to me and I was like, “Dang, let me see. Let me see if she’s serious or she’s just saying that.” That’s just a funny story in itself. I thought that was funny. I I did, too. I thought it was funny. And you you never thought in a million years I would never I never thought you’d even see the comment or message or anything. He did it for free. The front yard, he did it for free. No, he had to My neighbor paid him. Oh, he paid it? Okay. That’s pretty That’s pretty nice. Yeah, it was nice of him. They weren’t touching that backyard, though. They said, “Nope.” He looked at the backyard and said, “Nope. No way. He ain’t mowing it.” There could be a few problems on this yard because first things first, I don’t know if my mower is going to fit through the gate. And that’s a big part of this yard is mowing the grass that’s taller than me. And without my mower, this yard will be very hard to complete. When I see a yard for the first time, I don’t really have a plan. I have to walk through it and check out all the obstacles and then I make a game plan. This yard is going to be a little bit challenging because that fence line fence lines take a lot of time and they look very overwhelming at first, but once you dig into them, you do a little section at a time and you start to see progress. It’s a lot like life. What I want you guys to take away from a project like this is you never know what someone’s going through. love your neighbor and just think about if you were in their shoes, how nice it would be just to have a little helping hand. Some of the tools I’m going to be relying on for this yard is my weed eater and my mower. Those are my main weapons on a yard like this. The fence line is going to take some time. I’m going to put that weed eater to the test and I ain’t going to rest until we get it going. Stupid. I was trying to rhyme with something, but I ran out of and we’re done. I’m All right. So, you want to go ahead and show I’m a little sick of my swim, but I’m ready. Take your round back. Yeah. The monster is back here. I mean, literally, this is my backyard. Yeah, it’s pretty pretty good. Yeah, it’s rough. Mhm. But that’s what I’m here for. I’m here to I appreciate it. to get it nice and clean. So, Heat. Heat. [Music] Heat. Heat. [Music] Heat. Heat. [Music] [Music] [Music] Heat. Heat. [Music] [Music] Heat. Heat. [Music] So, when doing fence like these, you run out of weeder string super fast. So, that’s probably one problem we’re going to come across doing in this yard. But, we got to get some more. [Music] [Music] Crap. Dang hat. [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] Heat. Heat. [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] Heat. Heat. [Music] You see? [Music] [Music] [Music] So, I’m doing this fence line and there’s this bush right here and there are a ton of bees. So, I hope I don’t get stung. I’m not allergic, so it shouldn’t be too much of a problem if I get stung. This yard had a lot more obstacles than I imagined, but with a little perseverance, I’ll push on and we’ll get this fence line looking just as good as the last fence line. Come on. A lot of wildlife here. [Applause] [Music] Can’t leave this in here. But if you see right here, this plant grew all throughout this fence. So, this is old. It’s messed up. And I just try to keep twisting see what I could get because Oh, sometimes you think it’s hard, you just twist and it’s good to go. You know what I’m saying? [Music] Dang ants on my pants. Something hit me real hard. Ricochet off the fence. Hit me real hard right there. Probably piece of the fence. [Music] Heat. Heat. [Music] Go. [Music] [Music] Heat. [Music] Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Have you heard that? Yeah. Yeah. How to eat an elephant one bite at a time. Same thing right here. I don’t understand the saying, but how to cut a pepper tree down one cut at a time. I don’t know if I broke this or not. Stalled out. Yeah, could have broke the motor. Oh. [Applause] Heat. Heat. Yeah. What happened? hop. [Music] Hop. Pick up. Heat. Heat. [Music] Heat. Heat. And let me tell you guys, that was one for the books. Now, we’re going to go ahead and mow the craziness. But first, this is one of the problems I was talking about in the beginning of the video. I don’t know if my mower is going to fit inside this gate. It looks really close, but let’s go ahead and try it out. I’m hoping it does. If not, we’re going to have to do some problem solving. So, let’s go ahead. We’ll get my mower and see if it fits. All right. So, that leads us to one of our bigger problems on this project. Mowers not fitting through the gate. Good thing I thought about it and I got a little something to maybe get us through. Let’s cross our fingers. There’s no spiders or snakes in this one, huh? So, now that’s out of the way, we could get to mowing. But guys, like I said early on, you got to problem solve. Just don’t give up right away. I could have just left and said I couldn’t do the backyard. But just a couple simple screws. Took this fence apart. Now we’re going to mow the back. Heat. [Music] Heat. These last few touches, like putting back the fence that I had to take apart just to get my mower in the backyard. touching up the front yard with a good trim. Putting a nice sharp edge on the driveway, scraping the overgrowth with the shovel, and lastly, a nice That’s what makes this field finished. It’s not about just cutting grass. It’s about bringing pride back to the family. And when I first got to this place, I didn’t know what I was stepping into. This yard went from closed off and forgotten about to now it’s open and ready to be played in. Every lawn has a story. Now this one has a new chapter. Perfect timing. I seen you walk up. Oh yeah. Yeah. All right. So you want to walk walk through the back? Yes, I do. Front looks excellent. Yeah. The edges took a little I was having problems with my edger. I said, “Dang it.” And I said, “Let me try one more time.” It’s the grass. Yeah. It probably killed your edger. We’re all done. We got her back down to good shape. Thank God. It looks really nice. Yeah, it was it was fun. It was fun to do. It looks like my yard is huge, don’t it? Yeah. Yeah. This looks nice. So much better. Oh, yeah. So, so much better. Kids can run around and play now. Yes. The fence lines are what’s like super hard. I’d recommend maybe just throwing some weed killer on the fence and it will it won’t make it so it’s so bad. Yeah. So, how you feel? We did a good job. Yes. You did excellent and I appreciate it. Thank you. I really do. Thank you. The kids appreciate it, too. They can get in the backyard now. Mhm. You get run around, climb on something else. Your cutting other people's plants down how do you k own that they wanted cut down and the bush that had the honey bees on we need the honey bees to pollinate other plants and you took there food away that was in someone else's yard so be careful if that person wanted that plant you could be sued

Al, please address the issue of letting little twigs grow on a fence or next to a building. They GROW and eventually ruin the fence or the foundation. A couple twigs have grown through the fence here and are taking it out!
