I was attempting to rearrange today and as soon as I picked the pot up, it snapped off.
How do you think I should go about trying to repot it, if it’s even savable.
This is my nightmare. I have a 7 yr old jade that an old Chinese man from a laundromat I used to go to gave me. It’s so top heavy. I have all these sticks and things on the sides to keep it from wobbling so much but I fear one day it’s going to do it anyway. Snap! 🫣

Looks like a classic case of rot. Not very bad at all though. This indicates a watering issue, the substrate looks pretty dense so i’d switch to a succulent mix at least. Jades hold water in their leaves so you can tell when they need water by squeezing a lower leaf; if it’s firm, it’s quenched, if lightly squishy/wrinkled, drown that hoe.
To rescue:
Press on/squeeze the trunk near the break, will likely be a bit squishy, chop from the bottom up bit by bit with a sterile knife until the inside is firm and light green. Rot also smells musty which may help you to diagnose. Skip this step if it feels firm like the rest of the trunk.
Let it callus over for maybe a week (?) and stick it right back in fresh potting mix. Jades root super easy, just don’t water it for at least a week (the longer the better) after repotting.

wait a week. stick in 65% grit substrate. water a week later. wait another week and a half. water. then water as normal. i always gets roots by week 2
oh and super important. cut that trunk back w sterilized shears until no rot is present. probably another inch or two. the leaves can be propped and small branch at the bottom can be potted separately in small (1-2”) pot, same 65% grit substrate as the big guy

I would stick the whole stem in wet soil with good drainage.

I’m sorry but that stem looks gone unless there’s a bit of root on it it’s unlikely to survive ….my best advice is to split the stem and transplant it to another plant but the root should be fine just wait and it’ll grow again

Give it a clean cut just above the existing but below the nodule, let it callous over, dip in hormone, and repot in not too wet soil. Gonna be top heavy so use sticks for support.

I didn’t know this was salvageable! 😭 I threw mine away a few years ago. Like in a comedy, it fell apart while I was looking at, telling my dad how well it was doing.

I had a similar issue with my jade. I cut out all the rot, sprayed the cut ends with diluted hydrogen peroxide and let the stem callous over for 2-3 days. I then planted it in a nursery pot with drainage holes and well draining soil. I left it in a place where it got indirect light daily. I waited about a month and a week to grow new roots and I did not water it at all. To confirm it had established some new roots I gently tugged on the stem to feel for resistance. Once I was certain it had new roots I gave it a thorough water. I placed it near one of my plant fans so it had good air circulation and currently it gets some direct sun. New growth has started but it was a slow process. Your jade can last quite some time without water and if overwatering caused the rot don’t rush to water it right away. If I can find the post here that helped me save my jade I will link it.

Stick it in water for it to start growing new roots. Then once they are a decent size I’d repot. I think it could be saved
