Dug a hole for a trampoline

17ft x 10ft. And it is about 3ft deep.
Started out with 1/3 turf soil, 1/3 light gravel and 1/3 medium/large gravel

Is there anything I should do now to try to keep the soil compact as it is today before installing the rest of the trampoline?

    How does it drain?

Looks like you’re gonna hide a pond under your trampoline.

I did not read the caption and assumed this was a nice little pond with a short rail around it for some reason.

It is going to be a pond with a trampoline over it. Buy some koi and let your kids have fun feeding them?

If I was going to dig a hole for a trampoline, my first thought would be drainage, what’s gonna stop it turning into a pond? My second thought would be to make the hole bigger than the whole trampoline, with vertical walls so that the hole is a consistent depth. If you jump high in this thing and land off centre, you’re gonna hit the ground

I too would like to come jump from the 3th floor

Does the trampoline attach to the ring ?

Nice pit for snakes to live in!

If you want to keep it stable the best thing would be to plant a shade tolerant groundcover under there. Second best would be to staple landscape fabric over the dirt so it doesn’t wash out.

  9. Looks like a pond for a mini golf course lmao

So are we not talking about the stone wall 1 foot from the trampoline? No? Just drainage? Ok.

I don’t have any input on your question. And you almost certainly are already aware, but I hope the trampoline comes with a net. That fence and the rocks would otherwise be pretty dangerous!

  12. Hi. I’m from Canada, so similar climate but different materials available.

Could you remove the top of the trampoline periodically? If so enough light may pass through to keep some grass alive and it wouldn’t grow fast and only need to be cut a few times per summer I suspect.

Otherwise a tacked down geofabirc that would need to be permeable. More natural products are also available, here we have cocomat (made from husk fibres) or “ground cover” plants.

It may fill with water sometimes, it drains now because the soil is not saturated and absorbs the rain. If the ground does saturate it may not drain as fast or completely, but it would only be temporary.

    Cool product though.

I would like to see more hole pictures.

Is the purpose of having it low to the ground to prevent injuries?

That wall looks mighty close and like a head injury waiting to happen.

Only on Reddit do people get into group arguments about a hole

  16. That does not look like 17 ft x 10ft to me. Crazy what photos do

This reminds me of when Jessie Pinkman started digging a hole in the yard to lure out meth enthusiast.

If you are going to do this, you should just go all the way and install a proper “in ground” trampoline with a water pump or French drain. Just a hole in the ground is not going to cut it..

There are some reptiles or rodents who are going to LOVE you when summer roles around if you don’t set up some drainage. The smell is going to be delightful… the kids’ Uncharted role plays are going to be very authentic too.

Better up your insurance. Have an umbrella policy for lawsuits?
