Probably risking a ban myself trying to speak up for someone else but it is what it is and sadly what the world has come to these days. Yall need to check your mods because you’re being exposed in other groups for banning people here for no reason. I’d like answers along with this user that was banned for just asking for help with her plants. And yes I brought the screenshots (not my screenshots). If this is how you guys operate your page though I really don’t have any interest in being a part of a community like that anyways. Ban me if you must.

Is this the same mod from r/art thats been causing a ruckus?

  2. MaleficentCap4126

Who. Looks like it’s time to report again.

It’s about fkin time we take the fight to the mods

  3. DeathKnellKettle

I’m so confused. If I say oooweeee that’s a pretty pink princess philodendron and use a gif of like some wolf cat calling will it get me banned?

  4. teabagsforlife

I was thinking of posting this as well! Thank you OP for doing a solid for all of us! This is ridiculous!

  5. corgi_moose_

Why are reddit moderators allowed to behave like this? This is a reddit only problem and it’s so frustrating

  6. Fuzzy_Number_2832

Yeah, I picked up a ban for calling another commenter a bot when they were repeatedly posting misinformation 🫠 then I was told I was “auto banned by Reddit” when I asked for clarification and to be unbanned

  7. Reddit should really add a vote kick a mod feature when this happen
Do we need to call moistcritikal so the mod get ashamed and resigned with a passiv agressiv note ?

  8. no1needed2know

Seems like this is becoming a trend on Reddit now, mods are power tripping everywhere!

  9. imagine going power hungry over being a r/houseplants mod lol what a loser

  10. star_dust_supernova

Yeah wtf? Thanks for calling it out!

I feel like a lot of mods need to step away from the Internet for a bit. Getting a big head over modding for groups about ART and PLANTS is insanely pathetic.

I had something similar happen in r/news but when I asked for clarification by sending a single message I got banned completely from Reddit for “harassing the moderators”

Of course I won the ban appeal but it’s wild

Uhh… This isn’t acceptable by any means. Banning is one thing but not giving any answers why it was done in first place… And in a rude way. I’m so sorry.

I have been modding for some time but i haven’t been in contact with other mods much, just been doing my “job” mostly independently to keep spam etc away. I’ll try to look into this.

    Again, that wasn’t appropriate behavior.

Yeah lol I can’t stand Reddit mods, like get a fucking life

Moderators need to understand that a community exists for the people that use it, and it’s not their personal playground for flexing their inflated ego lol. Too many subs getting destroyed by mods throwing their toys out the pram.

  16. I got banned from r/ glow ups because I also participate in r/ medical gore which is flagged as an NSFW sub, and glow ups doesn’t allow NSFW profiles 🙄 no exceptions for users who are only flagged NSFW because of medical subs instead of porn content. I complimented someone on their glow up and got auto permanently banned. Make it make sense.

Wow! I would absolutely never have known that this was a ‘bad’ name. I don’t go research if every single thing’s name in the world is appropriate. This is wild, wild stuff imo! Learning something new every day.

It’s not as egregious a ban as it seems with the further explanation from the mods. Still, it was handled poorly. The OOP should have been warned alongside the automod messages to stop posting with the controversial plant name. Just a ‘hey, you’ve been getting warned multiple times to not post with that name. If it happens again, it will result in a ban’ (shouldn’t have been a permaban, imo) The explanation should have then been repeated in mod mail, if for no other reason than to avoid this exact situation, where they come off looking like the bad guys when that conversation gets shared. Always treat modmail like it’s going to be public.

  19. Wyremills

I was banned for posting a plant themed joke.

  20. TheScientistBS3

“Indicated as offensive” – but it’s what the plant is called?

If someone introduces themselves as Dave, you can’t say “No thank you, I’ll call you David because Dave is offensive”.

I understand offensive words being banned (though really we’re all adults), but you can’t ban a plant name, surely?

  21. NursingMyWorries

How do you decide that a plant name is banned ? Do they do a poll to see if people actually care ? Tbh I only know this plant by the “offensive” name so if OP did post the scientific name I would not know it.

  22. Nukalixir

Reddit mods and being power-drunk losers. Name a more iconic duo. 🤷‍♂️

  23. SkullsInSpace

This mod behavior is deeply unhelpful. A post delete and a message informing the user of *why* would’ve been much more productive here. This isn’t like tradescantia, it’s much less obvious why the “d— cane” name is such a problem.
