You need to carve away the shiny parts of the foam, and then apply silicone all over. Immediately after applying silicone (while it’s still wet), apply copious amounts of coco coir. Let it cure for at least a few days.
Only use 100% silicone.

Hey make sure that top shelf isn’t going to block a ton of light from reaching below.
