A. Macrorrhizos Variegated, purchased 4 months ago half dead as a bargain basement $1 special!
I was a complete newbie to Alocasia and had a lot to learn. I immediately repot this plant and was delighted to find some good healthy roots despite some apparent overwatering (see last two photos). It initially went into shock as I needed to rinse the rot away from the roots.
Good potting mix, good light, careful watering with half strength fertiliser… and now into growing season! First few leaves didn’t show much variegation, so a little more patience.
I’m now so excited I have been rewarded with this beautiful leaf. 😍
