I wanted to add my hate for landscape fabric after spending a few hours digging and cutting it out of our planting beds. Be kind to your future homeowners, it’s not worth it!

At least you got a nice piece all at once. The plastic netting on the back of sod is my personal nemesis.

  2. misread this “isn’t the worst and was so confused “

Before garbage collection services existed, people would bury their garbage in the backyard, their own mini landfill. Some people still do this (we’ve all seen those residential junk yards). I hope some day that our use of landscaping fabric is met with the same level of disdain by the general public. Why would we take perfectly good earth and wrap it in plastic? It makes no sense.

For real… I put some down years ago before I knew better and I’ve been ripping it up…. I had a pollinator garden done by a non-profit a few years ago and they used some and it’s so hard to plant additional stuff with it.. I’m seriously considering ripping it out of my front yard next spring… hell maybe before winter and just layer everything with leaves and then mulch

I just finished digging up a ton of landscape fabric from my backyard and it was such a mess. The stuff was all torn up, full of roots and weeds anyway, and made planting way harder than it needed to be. Honestly, I’d rather just deal with some weeds than ever mess with that stuff again.
