Not pictured: I laid seed for desert marigold, blue bells, and Mexican evening primrose. Finishing touch will be some Gregg’s Mist.
I cannot wait to see how it’s looking come spring!
This was a huge labor of love and research over the last couple months. Here’s the mix I landed on:
A desert willow (west side of the garden for afternoon shade)
Two Perry’s penstemons
Two globe mallows
One desert milkweed
Two blackfoot daisies
One Angelita daisy
Desert marigold seeds
Mexican evening primrose seeds
Bluebell seeds
Gregg’s Mist (to be added next week)

Nice selection of plants. If you find that any of them propagate readily, by self-seeding or clump/rhizome spread, those are some of the best ones to me. They don’t take any work at all to just grow and grow and grow.
Yeeeees Penstemon parryi is so gorgeous you’ll get lots of hummers.
Sounds like a smart plan! Testing first is such a great way to learn what works best for your space. Good luck!!
