So, i am on the 7th semester of biology college, and for limnology we are doing a work where we have to make some sort project with any body of freshwater.
Because of this, i am doing an experiment of seeing what will grow on an ecojar from a water puddle, where i live there are some streets where it has puddles full of algae and organic matter 24/7, so i tought it was perfect for the experiment.
I put some little subtract and collected some of the algae growing on the puddle, along came some other vegetation hitchiking. I also cut some holes on the lid so atmospheric oxygen could flow.
Anyways, so far i saw a pregnant copepod, an unkown larvae (maybe diptera), a bettle of some sorts, and some small things that look like ostracods.
Here a video showing some of the bugs, i would love if someone helped me know what they are, sorry that they look blurry, my camera isn't good

Looks good.
Here’s a good start..my fav critter ID guide with many pages and pics. To ID from a video, you would have to go a lot closer. The lil hover buzzers are ostracods, the movement gives it away :).
But if you have a general idea of what it is, just search this sub. I guarantee you, someone had it before :). I ID’ed over 60 critters over the past 4 years.

I melted an icicle in a jar once, put the lid on…18 months later I had green water and dozens, if not over a 100 scuds in there. So a puddle should be rich!
