I am back for another one first time gardener and it’s not a good one for me. I was so sure with this weather it would be great, but something is definitely tearing up all my plants. First, it was the grasshoppers now I think I have something bigger on my cabbages. The one pictured is the worst one literally eating down to the nub. 2nd photo is my poor broccoli. I know that this was overnight because it was not like this when I checked the day before. I feel so defeated. I have already knitted a few of my broccoli, but now it looks like I will need to figure something out to protect these cabbages. Anyone has any advice?

Looks like a rabbit or rodent pest. Can you cage the veg with mesh wire?

Everything! I am not sure in your case, but in general brassicas are loved by lots of pests, slugs, aphids, rodents, humans…

Protect your plant with a good cover and ensure it’s closed at the bottom.

Bunny bun buns is my guess. Or squirrels (my forever enemies, those a–h–es)

Get yourself a planter box on legs at waist height, that will help you better control nuisance creatures. If you notice damage in the morning, go out at night and see what’s eating your cabbage.
