I have been thinking about donut shaped planters for crawlers for days now and I was only able to find those really shallow decorative type of donuts (pic 2). I've tried searching under different names, but I can't find anything like what I want.
Like instead of having one long pot, your crawler just twirls around. Like I have so many Ideas about how this would work, how amazing it could look if you put a climbing plant in the hole in the middle….
And I just can't find anything online. I've tried searching for donut-planter, ring-planter, o-planter and nothing shows up! If you have ever seen a pot like that please let me know.
ps.
I hope you can see what I mean with my scribbles, drawing is not my strong suit

I’m trying to comprehend what you are describing.
Like this?

That would look amazing, it’s such a good idea! You could try to find someone who has know-how in 3D printing/design, or maybe if you have a potter/ceramist friend?
No reason why you can’t DIY it š
I totally see what you’re saying! You may have an easier time finding a donut shaped dish, and adding drainage holes to it. Super easy to do, lots of videos on yt!!
Bunt cake tin, maybe?
What an amazing aesthetic⦠watch this be the rage in 5 years! Found a [couple of designs](https://www.etsy.com/listing/1842922399/black-stoneware-donut-vase-rustic-ring?ls=r&ref=related-1&sts=1&content_source=6361c3aec470daf6d8bf402e75cc8df2%253ALTc826c92f19be45563f153da0a1d4d3ac1c735401&logging_key=6361c3aec470daf6d8bf402e75cc8df2%3ALTc826c92f19be45563f153da0a1d4d3ac1c735401) on Etsy, maybe try there?? Stuff also seems to pop up under the term āpansy ring vaseā, seems like a super specific style.
Iād also try adding āikebanaā to your search terms, I know that art makes use of really creative and unique vessels!
this is a super smart idea! maybe you could diy it by glueing/attaching a smaller planter inside of a larger one, and then drilling drainage holes like you drew in your picture. then you could have another pot that fits inside the middle so you can easily take it out as needed.
Look into planters that are meant to go around a patio umbrella stand.

You might consider having one custom made by a potter? This would be a fun project!
Can you just place a planter pot in the middle of a larger pot? It looks like you want to fill it to the top anyways. You don’t need holes in the outer ring cause the water will flow to wherever the drainage hole is.
I think you could do this just buy buying a large pot and a medium pot, putting the medium pot inside the large pot and filling the space between the pots with soil. Then you could put soil in the middle pot as well with a different plant if you wanted. Does that make sense?
Looks very similar to a 3D printer file I ran across. If you need it let me know and Ill post a link this evening. Would be easy to stretch the height
This could be an awesome pot for a crawling monstera! Perhaps a thai con?
I would look for things that are not planters but could be used as planters and if that didnāt work try and make one out of clay.
In my experience the crawler will quickly overtake the climber in the center. You can plant different plants in the same container too. Or maybe Iām not understanding your vision.
Is the plant supposed to go in the middle of the donut or the outer ring? I.m so confused
I saw some donut shaped pots at the nursery last week. I don’t remember if they had drainage – they basically looked like the second photo. I wanted to go back anyway, if the pots are still there I’ll take a picture and look for the brand/supplier
I would maybe use 1 large pot with 2 medium pots. Secure 1 medium pot in the center of the 1 large pot as close to the floor of the large pot as possible without sealing them off from each other. Use 2nd medium pot as the pot for your middle plant if you are doing that, that way you can pull it out of there if you want to bottom feed them both.
Edit: medium pots would sit stacked this way. So depending on the look you’re going for and the pots you have it may not look so slick but eh..Im a hippy plant dude, my standards are low. š
I understand the vision, I feel you could achieve a similar goal with two pots as is! Youād have one just stuck in the center for your climber and a larger, wider pot for your crawlers! Or maybe if you know of anyone with a 3d printer try asking if they could take on the design? Itās a cute idea for sure, but I donāt know how many people Iāve seen selling things like that, but itās an idea I have no doubts would be nice to look at!
Get a big wide pot and put an unglazed terra cotta in the center as the reservoir.
*Mosquitos have entered the chat*
I thought this was a planter with a dogbowl in the middle. Ive seen a few of that DIY lately.Ā My dog makes way to much of a mess for that š
Maybe you could put some pond planters together? You can get them curved like this and cut the ends off. Now obviously you’d need a large cache pot to put it in!

Itās a wonderful idea OP. Will dip platters work ? It the first thing that came to mind after seeing your sketches
But generally most of the platters have the dip bowl of small size.
Or you could diy it.
We do that with our Coleus but instead of a circle planter we just manifold train them into a wreath shape
im a product design student, dm me. would love to maybe take this on as a project

Experienced houseplant grower here.
Biggest problem I see is that the ring may get too dry too fast.
You will have to Research and Development on this.
How much water? How often?
I thought that the first picture was that giant cupcake mold from the 2000s
These are called pingdoms! They make these for pings.
Genuine question: why not simply put your trailing plant twirled round and round the inside of a regular pot, with a climber growing up the middle of the same pot? All sharing the same pot, dirt, water, light, etc. Why would they need to be separated by anything?
I put a galvanized metal bin inside a half wine barrel, I had a fountain in the middle and plants in the donut area

I certainly understand!!
Edit: I bought this thing at a thrift store, much like most of my pots and planters actually xD
Edit 2: I just had another thought! Alternatively maybe look for a bundt cake mold (ceramic/earthenware would probably be best??) and maybe drill a few drainage holes into it? Or put those brown hydroball tingies on the bottom (no idea what those are called in english). That might get to be pretty close to what you drew/described?
This works. I made my own out of a whiskey barrel and smaller diameter plastic planter. I filled the outer ring with soil and organics for plants, then filled the inner planter with water, aquatic substrate, and aquarium plants to make a mini pond
Take large pot. Then, take smaller pot and put it in middle of the large pot (on top of some rocks or other harder object) so itās the same height. Mission complete. Share final results.
I have been looking for this also. Im about to make it i just need clay but there is none for sale near me :ā( im goonna fill the center with water.
I used something like this for my Jasmineā¦. It could be modified to fit like thatā¦.

Iāve seen this done by stacking different size pots. Like a big round one for the base then from there you can build up by putting smaller pots inside upside down. I suggest you use pots with a large drainage hole. Easier to fill them with dirt. If you can put 3 smaller pots inside the large pot, you can continue stacking leaving the hole on top visible for planting.
Sorry, I thought it was a brake disc and an air filter š
Sounds like a job for a 3D printer to me
I thought the first picture was of the nespresso pods tbh
Get a wacamole bowl!
