I started growing plants around 2018. At the time, I was helping with my wife’s school fundraiser, and after everything wrapped up — even though the school raised a lot of money for their trip to Niagara Falls — we were left with a ton of plants that didn’t sell.
I decided to list them on Facebook Marketplace and Kijiji (which was still pretty active back then), and they sold at an unbelievable pace. So I planted more. And then I kept going. One season turned into another, and before I knew it, this little side project had turned into something I genuinely loved.
Today, I run Green Gardens North Bay, a small personal operation here in Northern Ontario. I only sell locally through Facebook Marketplace, but it’s become something special to me. I have families who come back every year, and they’ll share stories and photos in my Facebook group showing how their gardens are doing and how the plants they bought from me are thriving.
It’s incredibly satisfying and fulfilling. This is the evolution of how I started back in 2018 and how I’ve grown into my process today — from seeding, to vegetative growth, to transplanting, and finally maintaining the plants until they’re ready for customers. It’s been a really rewarding journey.

Wow – I’m in awe. This is the closest thing I’ve seen that matches some of the ideas I have been brainstorming! What a beautiful setup! And even more awesome that you have a solid customer base! Bravo all around!
