This is a loblolly pine thay was transplanted. It has been there for two years or so, and it grew very well the past two years. I would say it is 18-22 foot tall. Today I decided to expose the root flare a bit more. Didn't have to dig deep at all. Maybe 1-2 inches. Then I seen this root. It does not go all the way around the tree. I didn't dig too much because I didn't want to hurt anything. I believe it may be coming from the left side of the picture and going down, but not even sure. The tree is 30 feet from my house. I wish it was little further away but it is what it is and I can't let what the tree might do in 10+ years keep me from keeping it. Should I even attempt to mess with this? If so, how? Thank you

If the root is only circling about 1/5 the circunference of the trunk then no, it’s not truly girdling. Roots do not akways grow “optimally” and this isn’t likely to harm the tree, in my opinion.
